The new Bailey Unicorn Segovia has been crowned ‘Caravan of the Year 2018’ by Caravan Magazine.
In a competition dominated by the UK’s best-selling premium caravan range, the fourth generation Bailey Unicorn claimed a total of four titles with the Unicorn Segovia also receiving the ‘Best Family Layout’ award, the Unicorn Seville claiming ‘Best Luxury Two-Berth Caravan’ accolade and the Unicorn Barcelona winning the ‘Best Luxury Fixed Bed Caravan For Couples’ category.
The Segovia is the first Unicorn model specifically designed to cater for larger families, as Bailey looks to expand its ever-popular formula to a wider audience. This twin axle layout features a dedicated end lounge and bedroom, complete with two dedicated fixed single bunks, ideal for the younger members of the family. In the centre of the vehicle is a large transverse washroom with a separate square shower cubicle and a well-equipped central kitchen boasting a Dometic double door tower refrigerator. Whilst up front a spacious parallel seat front lounge, beautifully showcased by the signature Bailey vertical picture window, caters for the whole family in complete comfort.
Commenting on the winner Caravan Magazine Features Editor Val Chapman said
“It takes a lot of elements to make a Caravan of the Year. A lot of features to earn a lot of high marks from our judging team. Fundamental things: bedroom layout, washing arrangements, excellent storage capability and the size of the kitchen in relation to the number of people the caravan is designed to accommodate. Other important features that contributed to this caravan’s high scores are a shoe cabinet by the door, two exterior-access lockers with plastic trays, a water tank, a solid door to close off the bedroom. Very often, spacious caravanning equals family harmony. The Segovia has it all.”
With Unicorn firmly established as the UK’s most popular premium caravan range, the development of the fourth generation of this proven best-seller was not a task to be taken lightly. The process took eighteen months to complete, included input from both customer and retailer product focus groups as well as both accelerated life track and cold chamber testing. The resulting vehicles represent a real step forward in Bailey caravan design with the dramatic new looks both inside and out really setting it apart from previous Unicorn incarnations.
Add to that improved layout execution and choice, enhanced specification levels, accessible unladen weights and a competitive retail price and it is easy to see why the new Bailey Unicorn is already receiving the plaudits from press and public alike.
As with all Bailey leisure vehicles, models are built using our patented Alu-Tech construction technology, cloaked in a GRP outer skin, making them more robust, more durable and yet lighter than those manufactured using conventional methods to offer greater protection against the elements to keep you comfortable, safe and secure all year round. To date approaching 50,000 Bailey leisure vehicles have been built with this groundbreaking technology and are currently being used around the world.
Commenting on the receipt of these coveted awards Bailey of Bristol Managing Director Nick Howard said:
“Naturally we are delighted that our new Unicorn range has received this award recognition from such a respected source, and it is testimony to the amount of work that has gone into the development of the fourth-generation models”
“We would like to congratulate everybody involved, including our focus group members, for their contribution to this success” he added.
